Swags and Tails

Product Overview

Swags and tails have been around for a very long time. As times and trends change swags and tails have slowly been going away from the market. One of the reason is the dominance of blinds in the market and the other is that swags and tails are quite expensive and hard to maintain.

Usually, you will be speaking swags and tails together but it is two separate elements. One is the swags and the other is the tails.

Different Types

Swags

Swags is the scallop part of the heading. It can be made in several different ways and with different types of decorations. Fringes and hangings are common when you want a very elegant and or even a godey look. Swags are made by creating a frame and the formation is mounted on it.

If you have curtains on rods, then you can even create your own swags by wrapping a large piece of fabric around the rod. This won’t of course have a look as elegant as the original one. But it does work quite often.

Tails

Tails is actually the continuation of the swags and drops on the sides. the length of the tails vary depending on the kind of look you are after. They in a way work like side drapes covering the side and giving a complete look to the sways.

Tails are usually decorate in the same style as the swags but often they do carry extra bits as well. Its also nice to have a step finish on the tails giving it a nice feature. If you extend the tails a little bit lower then you can also hide the hold backs.

Child Safety

Since the early 1990s at least 15 young Australian children have tragically died as a result of unfortunate strangulation incidents involving blinds cords and chains.

Australian Child Safety law requires all blinds retailers to supply child safety devices with all kinds of curtains which have loose cords and chains hanging. It is ones own responsibility to make sure that the child safety cleat is installed and any loose cords/chains are wrapped. Warning Stickers supplied with the blinds should never be removed.
